A NATIONAL CURRICULUM FOR SCHOOLS
A Rudd Labor Government will set up a National Curriculum Board to develop a rigorous, consistent and quality curriculum for all Australian students – from kindergarten to year 12.
It will focus on four important subject areas. They are Maths, the Sciences; English and History. It will be concise and will be achieved within three years.
A national curriculum will mean that a student moving from WA to Queensland or NSW to Victoria will not be disadvantaged by differences in the curriculum in each of these States. |

INCENTIVES FOR STUDENTS IN MATHS & SCIENCE
"A Rudd Labor Government will provide $111 million over four years in financial incentives for university students to study and teach maths and science. The plan provides a double-barrelled incentive for young Australians:
We will halve the HECS fees for new maths and science students while they are studying; and
We will then halve the HECS repayments of maths and science graduates if they take up work in a relevant maths/science occupation, particularly teaching."
